Have Camera Will Travel

If money were no object how would you spend your life?

I've seen people recently who have given up the corporate lifestyle and have decided to become nomadic, traveling with a bare minimum, an RV like vehicle, a laptop computer and a camera. Writing and taking pictures along the way. I follow several people online who have made this decision.

I've often thought about doing something like that myself. I used to fantasize about having a yacht and traveling between Key West and Block Island; staying in Key West during the late fall and winter and being on Block Island during the spring and summer. Why those two places?  Because I fell in love with both, Block Island first as I went there for the first time in 1979 with my maternal grandparents.  Then every year shortly after taking day trips sometimes as many as three times from May to September.  You can see my Block Island photos here:

Key West?
Well that’s easy.  It’s a photographer’s paradise.  Take a look:

Now I think being on land would be the better thing as I'd be able to stop anywhere, grab my camera and start taking pictures. Being that I’m a writer as well, It would be easy for me to travel as long as I had access to my computer.  If money were no object, I’d love to keep my condo in Madison, Connecticut and travel around the country taking pictures and blogging as I do now.  There are so many places I want to see but I’d also want to go where people don’t normally go.  Anyone can see the popular sites.  What I want is the places people don’t see.  The off the beaten path places.  Finding these places makes it easier to maintain my No People policy.  I don’t like having people in my photos.

I’d love to photography wolves in the wild.
The Grand Canyon is on my bucket list as well.

There are so many places I want to photograph and being able to travel on a whim and be away for extended periods of time would be such a blessing.

What’s your pipe dream?

In the meantime:
Focus on what's ahead of you.

I have considered (often) the concept of buying an RV and traveling across the US (and back), using the RV as my home and my office to visit clients. Perhaps as I reach the next magic age, it's how I will live my life.
