Off Brand Lenses

July 28, 2017  •  Leave a Comment

Since I've recently been considering a new lens, this time another telephoto, be it a prime lens or a zoom lens, I thought I'd replay this column from 2014.  If you do or would consider purchasing an off brand lens, which lens would you use?

When a photographer has a name brand camera body, be it a Canon or a Nikon, how do you feel about buying off brand lenses for the camera?  There are many manufactures of lenses:
Sigma
Tamron
Tokina

To name just a few.

I know many photographers who choose off brand lenses and they are completely happy with the results.  This is not a column for or against off brand equipment.  Simply my opinion on the subject.  I’ve used Canon equipment almost all my entire life as a photographer.  For me, I prefer not to purchase off brand lenses.  It might sound silly, but I prefer to maintain the integrity of my camera system.  I know the results I will get with Canon, just as someone who uses Nikon understands the results they will get with Nikon.

How bout you?  Do you use off brand lenses?

In the mean time:
Focus on what’s ahead of you.

Chris
