Winter Hibernation

That time of year is fast approaching once more:
The Wake Me at Spring moment.

Every year around the middle of November to around the end of April my camera goes to sleep.
Too many bleak days.
Too many cloudy days.

I need color to work my photography magic.  It’s the biggest reason I’m not a typical fan of Black and White photography.  My friend and photographer, Karen Stanford recently posted on Facebook what season you'd like to live in if you could only choose one. As it relates to today's column I would have to say my favorite season is spring for a number of reasons:
--It stays light later in evening letting me stay out later.
--The colors are AHHH-MAZING with the light greens, pinks and whites of the blossoming flora.
--And it's warmer out as well.

Being that it's warmer out I am able to leave my camera in the trunk of my car so it is always accessible. For those reasons I prefer the spring season over the other three. I've always struggled with winter, because of the early darkness and lack of color during the season. The cold is something I can tolerate. It's lack of late light and colors that distress me more.

Am I the only one?

Of course there will be occasions when we have a fresh snow and blue sky that I’ll be out.  Those days are few and far between however.

Enjoy the winter and my camera will see you all in the spring!

In the meantime:
Focus on what's ahead of you.

I like all the seasons. OK, it gets too ....... hot in Summer. But, even in the winter, even if the world is covered in snow (and I have my sun glasses on to deal with the glare), I love the views.
But, I also love the cold...
