Do you use social media to promote your business? If so, how much do you share your own content? It’s important that you share other’s content as well. In fact, I believe it’s more important to share others content more than your own. That’s where my interpretation of the 80/20 rule comes into play.
What’s the 80/20 rule and how can it help you when on social media? My interpretation may be different from others. Here goes.
How often do you share others content?
Many people outside the social media bubble ask me how I can share so many other people’s content when that draws people away from my own? It’s because while I may not see an immediate result, everything we do is an echo and when I share someone else's content, it will reverberate in a different way.
I never expect reciprocal shares. I share other’s content because it’s who I am. The 80/20 rule when it comes to marketing for ME means:
Sharing other people’s content first and more often than sharing one’s own content.
We don’t want to be accused of constant self promotion. That’s yet another reason to share our own content sparingly. Even on our own business pages on social media it is important to NOT simply share our own content.
In the meantime:
Focus on what's ahead of you.
