Bloggers need images to enhance their columns and it is all too easy to grab photos from the web. But when we take someone else’s images without their permission we run the risk of being caught. One of two things may happen when we are discovered.
Simply told to remove said image
Told to remove the image and charged an amount of money.
The latter is occurring more often now. Pixsy is a service that looks to root out photo theft. Those photographers that sign up for their service will be protected and if an image that has been flagged by Pixsy should turn up on someone’s website, the offender will be contacted and told one of the two things above. Which is why it is so important to find rights free images. Look for Creative Commons Images
There are websites available that offer images for use as long as the person using the pictures attribute the photographer or link where the image resides. Three sites that I use consistently are:
When you find an image you want to use, simply copy the link in the address bar, then type the domain where the image came from and paste the link. You can copy my steps:
