Blogging about your business is one way of showing your relevance.
The same can be said for using Social Media.
If you have a business, whether online or brick and mortar, you obviously have something to share, something intelligent to say about your business. Business owners SHOULD be blogging. Attracting people to your website should be the number one priority.
You have no website? No website? No blog? It’s time to re-think your business model then. In today’s economy, the Web is important to every business and their economic well being. Creating a website and a blog doesn’t have to be a challenge either. There are many template based web tools available and quite a few that are free to start with.
Getting back to the initial question here:
Let’s assume your business already has a presence online. Your number one priority should be drawing eyes to your website, especially if you have a commerce site. The more eyes on your site, the better the opportunity of converting some of those eyes to clients or customers. And that should be your aim:
Getting more people to visit your commerce site.
The question becomes how do you attract visitors?
--You can use keywords.
--You can use social media
and HOPE people find you that way.
You can also use your blog. What’s best is if you can have your blog as simply another page attached to your website.
--Since I migrated to a new service, my blog is now attached to my website as well:
This is an important factor to consider when creating a website. It’s better to keep your visitors in one place then sending them away. It’s like I said earlier:
The more time someone spends on your website, the better the opportunity for them to become a client.
If you have a website, you should also be blogging. It will lend credibility to you as a business owner.
You have something important to convey to your clients
You want to promote an event
You have links to share.
These are all things that you can do if you have a blog.
Because you can and you should. It’s an organic way to drive traffic.
Driving traffic to your retail site is the priority.
And make sure you maintain a consistent schedule. Once a week, every other week at the LEAST. And make sure your blog publishes on the same day every week. Your clients will see your consistency ad it will be one more thing to add to your business.
In the meantime:
Focus on what’s ahead of you.
